  • The Seige of Jinju Castle was a key event during the Imjin War in 1592 when a force of just 3,800 Koreans held off an invading army of 20,000 Japanese
  • Since ancient days, silk processed in Jinju has been known for its superior quality.  Today, some 70% of South Korea’s annual silk production is spun in Jinju based factories
  • Is home to the Jinju National Bullfighting Contest, recognized as Korea’s oldest bullfighting event
  • Became a sister city of Winnipeg on April 1, 1991
