- Despite a population density of 14,414.34/km2, Setagaya is known for its upscale housing along with its exensive parks and greenspaces
- Maneki-neko (招き猫) or beckoning-cat statuettes originated from Setagaya based Gotokuji Temple (豪徳寺). Due to its popular presence within Chinese communities it is frequently mistaken for being Chinese in origin rather than Japanese
- Became the first sister city of the Metropolitain Corporation of Greater Winnipeg (later the City of Winnipeg) on October 5, 1970
